STAN WAWRINKA'S COMEBACK TO THE TOUR WILL BE AT THE ANYTECH365 ANDALUCÍA OPEN 2022
After more than a year off, the Swiss player will return to competition in Andalucia.
The former World No. 3 Stan Wawrinka, winner of three Grand Slam, will participate in the AnyTech365 Andalucía Open 2022, which will take place from March 27th to April 3rd in the Puente Romano Beach Resort in Marbella, after receiving the first of the three available tournament wild cards.
It will be his return to competition after more than a year off in which he has had to undergo surgery twice, the first in March to treat his left foot and a second in June due to an injury to his Achilles heel foot.
With 36 years old, he has achieved practically every possible milestone in professional tennis. Besides the 3 major (Australian Open 2014, Roland Garros 2015 and US Open 2016), we must add 16 ATP titles and an Olympic gold medal in Beijing with his compatriot Roger Federer in the men's doubles category.
The Swiss reached his best position in the world ranking in 2014 with the position number 3, closing three consecutive years in the Top-4 between 2014 and 2016.
In his almost 20 years of professional career he has achieved more than 500 victories, standing out as the only player to beat the Big 4 (Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray) both in Grand Slam and on clay, a surface that he considers his favorite and on the one that will be played in the Marbella tournament.
