Spain's Jaume Munar and Argentina's Pedro Cachín will play the final of the AnyTech365 Andalucía Open in the men's category. The Balearic player thus achieves his fourth consecutive final in the Andalusian tournament; this Sunday he will try to win his first trophy after three lost finals (the two ATP Challengers of 2020 and 2021, as well as the ATP 250 played last year). His opponent will be the Argentine Pedro Cachín, the real revelation of this edition on Marbella's clay.
The triumph of Jaume Munar closed the day of tennis on the central court of Puente Romano. A match where the player from Santañí showed a solid tennis that ended the hopes of his rival, the Czech Jiri Vesely. Munar reaches the last Sunday in immaculate form, without dropping a single set in all his matches.
A victory that meant an explosion of joy for the local public that shortly before had seen their other representative defeated. Pablo Andújar said goodbye to the tournament after losing in three sets against Pedro Cachín from Argentina. The South American player, who entered the Andalusian draw as "alternate", achieved his best result of the season and confirmed the level of play shown in previous rounds against illustrious players such as Dominic Thiem or Philipp Kohlschreiber.
The Egyptian Mayar Sherif and the German Tamara Korpatsch will be the two women who will compete for the title at the AnyTech365 Andalucía Open. The two players will meet in the final after beating Danka Kovinic (1) and Oceane Dodin in their respective semi-finals. The North African player comes to the final match without having lost a single set during the whole week; this Saturday she had to suffer, but she won 7-5 and 7-6(3) against the first favorite, the Montenegrin Danka Kovinic.
On the other hand, the German is confirmed as the great revelation and is in the dispute for the title after leaving the French Oceane Dodin on the way. After entering the draw as ‘alternate’, Korpatsch achieved the best result of her career with this WTA 125 final.
The AnyTech365 Andalucía Open 2022 already has its first champions. The day of Saturday, April 2 has hosted the two finals of the doubles draw where the duos formed by the Czech Roman Jebavy and the Austrian Philipp Oswald in the men's section and the Romanian Irina Bara and the Georgian Ekaterine Gorgodze in the women's section have emerged victorious.
The Central European pair, 4th top seeds, took the final victory over the 2nd favorites, Monaco's Hugo Nys and Poland's Jan Zielinski. Meanwhile, in the women's final, the 2nd top seeds managed to lift the cup against Vivian Heisen and Katarzyna Kawa, rivals who took them to the super tie break.
The AnyTech365 Andalucía Open 2022 will finally know the two individual champions, both in the men's and women's categories; a historic edition for the Andalusian event that for the first time combines both categories. The women's title match will start at 12 noon on the Manolo Santana center court; at the end, it will be the turn of the men in a duel that will start from 14h.
