ITALIAN FLAVOUR IN THE ANYTECH65 ANDALUCIA OPEN CHALLENGER 80 QUARTER FINALS
Mager, Giannessi and Marcora from Italy and Klizan from Slovakia, in the next round.
The AnyTech365 Andalucía Open Challenger 80 already knows its first quarter-finalists. Gianluca Mager, Alessandro Giannessi, Roberto Marcora and Martin Klizan won their matches. Three of them were Italians.
The day started on the center court Manolo Santana with the match between the Italian Gianluca Mager, 4th Top seed, and the Swede Elias Ymer. Mager was much more solid with his second service and the victory was for him. Better performance than last year for the Italian when he was beat in the second round.
In Quarter-finals he will face his compatriot Roberto Marcora who beat Ernests Gulbis. Second “head to head” of the season, after the victory for Marcora during the ATP 250 in Singapore.
Big day for Italian tennis, Alessandro Giannessi was the third player classified for Quarters. He won his match against the Portuguese Pedro Sousa (5th Top seed), 6-4, 6-3.
Martin Klizan will be Giannessi's rival for a place in the semi-finals. The 6-title ATP champion won in two straight sets against Henri Laaksonen.
QUARTES IN DOUBLES DRAW DECIDED
Quarters in doubles draw are already decided. The first to pass into this round were Romain Arneodo and Hugo Nys. They beat Javier Barranco Cosano and Carlos Sánchez Jover by a double 6-3.
Another couple in quarters is the team formed by Roberto Carballés and Eduard Esteve Lobato. The Spaniards won 7-6 (4); 6-2 to Robert Galloway and Alex Lawson.
Hard victory for David Marrero and Adrián Menéndez-Maceiras. Marrero, former world number 5 in doubles and Nitto ATP Finals champion, together with his compatriot played against Andre Goransson and Andrei Vasilevski.
Danilo Petrovic and David Pichler conquer a victory versus Artem Sitak and David Vega-Hernandez, 4th Top seeds. As well as Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela and Fernando Romboli against Leo Brog and Elias Ymer.
The day ended with the win of Carlos Gómez-Herrera and Mario Vilella-Martínez. They closed the path to Alessandro Giannessi and Roberto Mancora.
