The Spanish Jaume Munar, 2020 runner-up, has started his bid for the 2021 AnyTech365 Andalucía Open Challenger 80 trophy with a victory. He won his match over the Austrian Sebastian Ofner, 7-6(3); 6-4. Munar will fight for a place in quarter-finals against Vit Kopriva.
In the Czech match of the day, Vit Kopriva beat the veteran ex-top 30 and 2-times ATP champion, Lukas Rosol: 6-3; 3-6; 7-5.
Another Top Seed in second round is the Italian Gianluca Mager (4). 6-3; 6-2 against Carlos Sánchez Jover. Mager will face now the Swede Elias Ymer; coached by Robin Södeling. Ymer showed his best tennis versus Javier Barranco Cosano (6-1; 6-2).
The French Maxime Janvier could beat No.2 Top seed, the Slovak Norbert Gombos. A very though match that finished 6-4; 6-7(4); 6-3. In the second round, Janvier will face Nikola Milojevic, who extends his winning streak. He get the trophy in Zadar (Croatia) last week. Milojevic had to come back from the opening set against Danilo Petrovic to keep his winning momentum.
The first match of the day on the center court Manolo Santana was the Spanish Mario Vilella Martínez and the Italian Lorenzo Giustino, two tennis players with very similar ranking. The first set was very tie, 7-6 for Vilella, but the second one was clear for the Spaniard for 6-0.
Villela’s opponent in the next round is the Bosnian Damir Dzumhur. 2-times ATP champion and 7 Top seed, Dzumhur beat Nikolas Sánchez Izquierdo by a double 6-4.
The Puente Romano Beach Resort was the scenario of Taro Daniel’s win. The tennis of the Japanese player on a higher level. 6-1; 6-2 to Leo Borg, 17 years-old and son of former world number one Björn Borg.
Daniel will play versus Carlos Gómez-Herrera. In a “WC duel”, Gómez Herrera was able to beat his compatriot Carlos Gimeno Valero. Two tiebreaks for a place in the Next round.
The AnyTech365 Andalucía Open Challenger 80 started its doubles tournament. No. 1 Top Seeds won their match, the team formed by the British Dominic Inglot and the Australian Matt Reid defeated the Polish Karol Drzewiecki and the Czech Lukas Rosol 7-6 (3); 6-3.
The second match was for the Australian couple, Marc Polmans and John-Patrick Smith. The score was 6-4; 7-6 (2) versus the French Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul.
On Wednesday, the quarter-finals draw will be decided. Top Seeds as Gianluca Mager (4) and Pedro Sousa (5), will play their matches as well as the former top ten, Ernests Gulbis or the 6-times ATP champion, Martin Klizan. The doubles draw will have all the teams qualyfied for quarters at the end of the day too.
