The AnyTech365 Andalucía Open has started the qualy draw of its ATP 250 tournament. Three Spaniards are already in the second round. Bernabé Zapata, Carlos Gómez-Herrera and Mario Vilella Martínez are one victory away from the main draw.
Bernabé Zapata Miralles (5) was the first one to win. He defeated 6-1; 6-0 to the Latvian Ernests Gulbis. The local and wild card Carlos Gómez-Herrera beat Martin Klizan, a tennis player with 6 ATP titles.
The last one to get the pass to the second round was Mario Vilella Martínez. He continue his successful path (after reaching semi-finals this week in Marbella) and won against Antoine Hoang (3) 6-2; 6-4.
Regarding the Top Seeds, Evgeny Donskoy (1) beat 17-year-old Leo Borg, but Peter Gojowczyk (2) was defeated by Steven Diez: 2-6; 3-6. Henri Laaksonen (4) won against Roman Safiullin: 6-3; 6-7 (7); 6-1; and Lorenzo Giustino (8) asserted his condition in the ranking against his compatriot Roberto Marcora by 7-6 (2) and 6-4.
The day ended with the victory of Nikola Milojevic (7). He advanced after the withdrawal of Alessandro Giannessi: 6-7 (4); 6-3; 4-1.
The AnyTech365 Andalucía Open starts on Monday. No. 7 Top Seed, Soonwoo Kwon will debut against the young Danish Holger Rune (No. 1 junior). No. 8 Top Seed, Federico Delbonis will face Roberto Carballés Baena.
Another players who debuts on Monday are Lucas Pouille vs. Ricardas Berankis and Norbert Gombos vs. Juan Ignacio Londero.
Four players will get a pass for the main draw and the doubles tournament also starts. The first two Top Seeds will make their debut: Sander Gille & Joran Vliegen (1) and Marcus Daniell & Philipp Oswald (2). Both teams will have Spanish rivals, David Marrero & Adrián Menéndez-Maceiras and Feliciano López & Marc López, 3 ATP titles together (including Roland Garros 2016).
