Andrey Rublev, currently World No. 8, is the first confirmed Top-10 player for the ATP 250 AnyTech365 Andalucía Open 2021 that will be held from April 4 to 11 at the Puente Romano Beach Resort in Marbella.
The 23-year-old Russian player has seven ATP titles in his track record, five of which he won last season, being the tennis player with more victories in 2020, same as Novak Djokovic, adding a total of 41. He got the Doha and Adelaide titles the first two weeks of competition and then he also won consecutively titles in Hamburg, St. Petersburg and Vienna, just before making her debut at the Nitto ATP Finals in London, where he earned his first win over Dominic Thiem.
Rublev began the year 2021 in Melbourne disputing the ATP Cup with Russia, where he managed to take the title in a final against Italy, along with his teammates Medvedev, Donskoy and Karatsev. The first of them, Daniil Medvedev, was precisely the one who defeated him several days later, in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open by 7-5 6-3 6-2, reaching in this way his best round in said Grand Slam.
The Moscow-born tennis player has certainly been linked to Spain for many years, in addition to being part of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona, he has followed the instructions of his Castellón coach Fernando Vicente since 2016. Together they have managed to become the 2020 duo inside the ATP Tour, getting the titles awarded by the ATP for both Coach of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year, after the coaches and players election.
