ALEJANDRO DAVIDOVICH FOKINA AND PABLO ANDÚJAR WILL PLAY AT HOME
The Andalusian player Alejandro Davidovich Fokina confirms his participation in the ATP 250 AnyTech365 Andalucía Open 2021.
The tennis player based in Fuengirola and current number 56 in the ATP ranking will return to the courts of Puente Romano Beach Resort after playing the 2018 and 2019 editions of the Challenger Tour tournament, the first of them after receiving a wild card from the tournament at just 18 years old.
Davidovich said he was very excited to be able to play an ATP 250 tournament at home and, if possible, surrounded by his people in the stands, undoubtedly the public's spirit will give a plus to the local tennis player who already felt very supported in previous editions.
This week at the ATP 250 Montpellier began his season on the ATP Tour after a somewhat bumpy start to the year in which he had to miss the Australian tour due to COVID. After beating No. 4 seed Hubert Hurkacz yesterday, he will face Belarusian Egor Gerasimov in the quarterfinals today.
Pablo Andújar, champion of the 2019 edition, also returns to Marbella after a year of absence. The Cuenca-born player has confirmed that he will participate in both tournaments, both the Challenger 80 in the week of March 29 and the ATP 250 that will be held from April 4 to 11.
After a start to the season in which he fell in his first meetings of the ATP 250 in Delray Beach and Melbourne, he reached the second round of the Australian Open improving his mark from the previous year, which meant a rise in his ranking to 55th place currently occupying.
